Conversation with Vermont Artisan Coffee
1. Approximately what percentage of the coffee that you buy and sell is fair trade?
- We have one coffee from Peru. It is a water processed decaf. As a percentage of coffee it is about 1%
2. Approximately what percentage of the coffee that you sell is Fair Trade?
- The percentage of Fair Trade coffee we sell is about 75%. We generally pay more than the fairtrade price for coffee though. For most of our coffees, we have a relationship with the farmers so that we can find the best lots for us to sell.
3. What is your best selling coffee?
- Our Espresso Blend. It is fair trade and organic. It is made of Guatemalan, Ethiopian, Kenyan, Rwandan coffees.
4. What country generally sells the most ex[ensive coffee?
- Panama recently.
5. Are there places outside of the US where you often sell coffee?
- We pretty much just sell in Vermont. Local, local, local! We did sell some coffee to a company in Bangalore India once.
